It can be so frustrating to look in your closet and feel like you have nothing that is interview appropriate but still shows off your individuality. The most important part of being hired anywhere is that they’re hiring YOU. Your skills, your knowledge, and your personality are all equally marketable to an employer.

So how do you walk into an interview with all of the professionalism in the world and not look like the grandma that’s worked in a cubicle for 30 years?

My method? The statement pieces.

And no, I don’t mean the chunky necklace and blue blazer.

And I’m not going to tell you to wear bold pieces like I’m a New York City based TikToker.

I’m here to help you build a classic outfit that you can rock to your interview, then continue to rock in the workplace.

So, let’s begin.

Let’s start at the very beginning… As in the basic pieces.

One of my favorite places to find inspiration for the base of an outfit is actually celebrity street style. You can find some really intriguing inspiration for silhouettes and colors by looking at what professional stylists are using for celebrities.

Let’s take a moment to look at a few of my favorite celebrity inspirations.

Anne Hathaway

Zendaya

Florence Pugh

Meghan Markle

Ashley Graham

What do you think is the most important and consistent part of their outfits? To me, it is the silhouettes. If you can create a really classic, chic silhouette to your outfits, you have the perfect canvas to build upon.

Anne Hathaway loves to style button-ups with wide leg trousers and midi skirts. Zendaya rocks form-fitting classics. Florence Pugh brings vintage silhouettes to accentuate her petite frame. Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is the queen of dresses. Ashley Graham knows to rock a monochromatic look. And you can easily incorporate these looks into your own style.

Here are some items inspired by these celebrity looks to add to your closet:

Now, when it comes to work heels, I swear by Clarks. They are definitely made with the working woman in mind. Here a few cute ones I love:

Now once you have your stylish base, let’s look at some fun accessories you can easily add to show off your personal style.

This is my favorite part. All you really need are some fun earrings and an interesting bag! Here’s a few to get you started:

What do you think? Are you prepared to strut your stuff in your interview? If not, did this help? Comment below if you plan on getting any of these pieces! We would love to see your finished looks!
